May 11: If it is spiritual art that you are looking for then head to Galerie Third Eye in Yemlur. Started with a vision to promote lesser known artists, this gallery will host a show featuring artists inspired by gods and goddesses.
Mukesh Mandal’s spiritual paintings mostly feature his favourite Lord Krishna. Sometimes alone, at other times with Radha by his side. These paintings in surreal tones are a treat to view. Mukesh has also painted Ganesha and Buddha. His acrylics on canvas are large sized and very dramatic. Krishnan Mallissery’s technique is unique. His mural art is a throwback to the temple art in Kerala. Transferring the techniques on his canvas, Krishnan has developed the ancient art and has given it a new lease of life, says Jasmine Khanna of Galerie Third Eye.
“Mural art is seen only on those walls. To replicate the intricacies and bring them to life on canvas is a tough job and Krishnan has done that beautifully,” says Jasmine. Krishnan also paints Ganesha and other gods. The gallery also stocks works of other artists in figurative and abstract styles. Jasmine hopes this exhibition will highlight the beauty of spiritual art. “The response has been good and we hope to promote these lesser known artists in the city,” says Jasmine.
